Assam cabinet’s next meeting in Silchar after Bohag Bihu

The Assam government is likely to have its next cabinet meeting in Silchar after Bohag Bihu.
A meeting of the Cachar district administration was held in Silchar on Tuesday in which district development commissioner Rajib Roy informed that the Assam government’s next cabinet meeting is likely to be held in Silchar after Bihu.(TNL)
This will be the fourth cabinet meeting outside Dispur after the last one was held at Haflong. The first such meeting of the cabinet headed by chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma outside the capital was held at Dhemaji on September 30 last year.
Officials of various departments were also informed about the status of different projects in the meeting. It was informed that the ongoing renovation of the Cachar deputy commissioner’s office will be completed within April 15. Besides, around 20% construction of a 500-bed building at Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) has been completed.(TNL)
Altogether 38 roads out of 79 (which were to be repaired) under the Silchar and Udharbond PWD, road divisions, have been repaired so far and work of the remaining roads will be done within May 31. A total of 29 tube wells have been set up by the Sonai-Dholai irrigation department, the meeting added.(TNL)
It was also informed that the work of the Silchar bypass road will be wrapped up within the next 15 days.
