Operatives of Fake Gold Rush to Surrender Before Assam Police

Guwahati: A number of operatives connected to a vast fake gold operation have either surrendered or have been captured thanks to the tireless work of the Lakhimpur Police, marking a huge victory for law enforcement.

This investigation has now resulted in the arrest of 52 people, dealing a serious blow to the region’s thriving black market in fake gold. 24 of the 52 suspects voluntarily turned themselves in to the police, demonstrating the increasing pressure they were under. 22 people were detained simultaneously on the basis of hard evidence, and the remaining suspects were detained on suspicion of taking part in the illegal conduct.

Following the recent appointment of Superintendent of Police (SP) Anand Mishra in the Lakhimpur district, the campaign against the fake gold syndicate gained momentum. The Naobaicha area after 10 p.m. saw 26 positive identifications of fake gold and counterfeit note dealers within 48 hours of Mishra taking on his new position.

Prominent figures from the illegal trade were among those who turned themselves in. Notably, a group of 16 people who were represented by Burhan Uddin, Ziabor Rahman, and Atikul Islam brought themselves in at the North Lakhimpur Sadar Police Station. They gave up after a viral video that exposed their participation with fake gold started to circulate.

The procedure has not, however, been without its difficulties. An overwhelming number of phoney gold smugglers sought refuge at Lakhimpur police stations out of fear of Anand Mishra’s tenacious tactics. Law enforcement has identified the victims of this criminal organisation, including Shariful Islam, Shariat Ali, Suruj Ali, Mofidul Islam, and Habizul Islam, and is pursuing their cases.

In a similar development, infamous fake gold mafia member Ajgar Ali turned himself in to police out of concern for his safety. Following a video release involving fake gold, which increased the urgency of his arrest, Ajgar decided to collaborate. Ajgar’s mother subsequently filed a complaint against Junmani Rabha in an effort to obtain redress for her son’s alleged involvement in the illicit trade.

The Lakhimpur Police’s efforts have paid off significantly, as 14 people have turned themselves in at the Bangalmara police station and another 10 in Naobaicha. 22 arrests were also made in other locations, further dismantling the network of false gold.

One of the most notorious members of the syndicate, Ajgar Ali, was apprehended, which represents a significant turning point in the investigation. The case has expanded due to allegations that it has something to do with Sub-Inspector Junmoni Rabha’s recent death in Morikolong. A thorough investigation into these interconnected illegal operations is required in light of increased allegations of a massive fake gold and cash network.

The region may anticipate a renewed sense of security and a dramatic decrease in the counterfeit gold trade that has plagued the area for far too long as the Lakhimpur Police continue their efforts to dismantle the entire network and bring those responsible to jail.
