Phurba Lachenpa Clinches Golden Glove in ISL 2023-24 Season

Phurba Lachenpa, representing Mumbai City FC, has etched his name in Indian football history by securing the prestigious Golden Glove award in the 2023-24 Indian Super League (ISL) season, marking a historic moment for Sikkim and the entire Northeast region.

Lachenpa’s exceptional goalkeeping skills were on full display throughout the season, as he consistently thwarted opposing teams’ attacks, resulting in an impressive clean sheet record.

The fiercely contested 10th edition of the ISL saw Mumbai City FC emerge as runners-up, with Lachenpa’s standout performances pivotal to their success. His stellar goalkeeping played a crucial role in Mumbai City FC’s triumphant victory in the ISL Trophy final against league champions Mohun Bagan Super Giant, held on May 4 at Kolkata’s iconic YBK Stadium.

Despite facing tough competition from Vishal Kaith of Mohun Bagan and Amrinder Singh of Odisha FC, both of whom also achieved nine clean sheets, Lachenpa’s ability to achieve the same feat in fewer matches ultimately earned him the coveted Golden Glove award, solidifying his status as the season’s top goalkeeper.
