Manipur CM Launches Fully-Funded Coaching Program for NEET and JEE Aspirants

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh today launched a transformative state-sponsored coaching program, aimed at leveling the playing field for aspiring medical and engineering students across the state. Set to fully fund coaching for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), this initiative seeks to bolster access to professional education in Manipur.

The program will cover the costs of online coaching for 63 students selected from across the state. Through partnerships with Aakash Educational Services and FIIT JEE, the state has secured high-quality preparation courses for these students. Each participant was provided with a tablet to facilitate access to interactive virtual classes. Of the initial cohort, 33 students will focus on medical entrance preparation, while 30 will receive coaching for engineering exams.

This initiative builds on Manipur’s ongoing educational reforms, notably the School Fagathansi Mission, which has modernized 120 schools, with an additional 120 slated for upgrades. The state has also invested in higher education improvements under the College Fagathansi Mission, enhancing educational infrastructure across the region.

Highlighting additional opportunities, CM Singh announced the Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme, which will offer 76 one-year internships to Manipur’s youth, each with a monthly stipend of Rs 5,000. This initiative aims to provide practical work experience and foster career development.

In a move to support students preparing for competitive exams, the state will soon release “Know Manipur,” a comprehensive guide to Manipur’s general knowledge. This publication will offer insights into the region’s history, culture, and geography, equipping students with valuable resources for exams.

The selected students will also participate in a tree-planting initiative, “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,” integrating environmental awareness into their academic journey. The program launch was attended by ministers, MLAs, the Chief Secretary, and representatives from the educational institutions involved, underscoring the state’s commitment to educational advancement and sustainable growth.
