Woman Assaults Ten-Year-Old Boy Suspected of Theft in Wokha District

A disturbing incident unfolded in Sanis town of Wokha district on April 12, as a woman allegedly physically assaulted a ten-year-old boy on suspicion of stealing eggs from her house.

The alleged perpetrator, identified only as Zubeni, is said to be a resident of Sanis town. Visual evidence circulating on social media depicts severe physical injuries on the boy’s legs, hands, back, and bleeding from the head. Additionally, it is alleged that Zubeni inserted a blunt object into the boy’s mouth during the assault.

While the full identity of Zubeni is yet to be confirmed, reports indicate that the woman and the alleged victim were neighbors in Sanis town.

In a concerning development, the boy’s father, contacted over the phone, refused to file a complaint against Zubeni, opting instead to forgive her. He stated that legal action would be pursued by the law enforcement agency. As a result, no FIR has been lodged in connection with the incident.

Following the assault, the boy has been taken into the care of the Child Welfare Committee of Wokha. He is currently receiving medical treatment and counseling at a shelter, arranged by the committee.
