CRPF Officer Dismissed for Sexual Harassment Allegations

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has taken action against one of its senior officers, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Khajan Singh, following allegations of sexual harassment. Singh, who held the position of chief sports officer, faced accusations from female personnel within the paramilitary force.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) recommended Singh’s removal after a thorough investigation conducted by the CRPF confirmed the allegations. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) approved the recommendation, leading to Singh’s dismissal from service.

Prior to his dismissal, Singh represented India in the 1986 Seoul Asian Games, where he secured a silver medal in the 200-metre butterfly event, marking a significant achievement for the country. Despite the allegations, Singh has denied any wrongdoing, labeling the accusations as false and aimed at tarnishing his reputation.

The CRPF’s swift action underscores its commitment to addressing cases of misconduct and ensuring a safe and respectful work environment for all personnel. With approximately 3.25 lakh personnel, including women in various roles, the CRPF continues to uphold its core values of integrity and professionalism.
