IMD predicts heavy rainfall in Assam till June 17

The flood situation in Assam continues to remain grim as the incessant rains over the past few days have caused mayhem in some regions of the state, affecting lakhs of people. The situation deteriorated in the Tamulpur district on Wednesday with several villages inundated.

Unprecedented rains have also caused floods and landslides disrupting life in the hill district of the DimaHasao region.

Meanwhile, fresh landslides were reported from various parts of Guwahati for the second consecutive day today amid incessant rainfall, which also led to heavy waterlogging in most parts of the city.

Assam has registered 42 deaths due to floods and landslides this year, including the four who were buried under a huge mass of earth in the Boragaon area on Tuesday.

The debris pileup caused by landslides has blocked thoroughfares in Geetanagar, Sonapur, Kalapahar, and Nijarapar areas.

Heavy rain has also flooded roads in several parts of the city the worst affected among these being Anil Nagar, Nabin Nagar, Rajgarh Link Road, Rukminigaon, Hatigaon, and Krishna Nagar.
