LS Polls 2024: BJP Introduces Yearlong Outreach Campaign To Win Over Muslim Voters
Guwahati: The BJP’s minority wing started the “Sufi Samvad Maha Abhiyaan” Muslim outreach drive on Wednesday as the Lok Sabha elections drew near.
Information indicates that the BJP has assembled a team of 150 non-political individuals as part of its massive outreach programme across the nation. As part of the outreach to minorities, these people will be divided into various teams and dispersed across the nation.
The teams will travel to a number of Lok Sabha districts with a high Muslim population in order to inform the minorities of the government’s efforts on their behalf. A nationwide campaign will be run as part of this endeavour for around a year through various discourse programmes.
A significant Muslim outreach event will be planned at the end of the year under the direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Jamal Siddiqui, the president of the BJP’s Minority Morcha, said during the programme, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi directed us to reach out to the Sufi community with the agenda of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayaas’. The idea is to be among the Muslim community and tell them that the government, under the leadership of PM Modi, works for all, irrespective of caste, creed or community. We will also dispel false notions of the Opposition about the BJP and Prime Minister Modi.”
Further information revealed that large-scale outreach programmes will be held in Lok Sabha districts where Muslims make up more than 20% of the population.
There will be a variety of events planned and organised, including lectures, conversations, and door-to-door visits, among others. In various states, including Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Bihar, and West Bengal, a focused outreach effort will be run. Such activities will be held in the Lok Sabha districts of Saharanpur, Meerut, Rampur, and Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh as well as Kishanganj, Araria, and Katihar in Bihar.
PM Modi has urged party officials and members on several occasions in the past to engage with the minority community. According to reliable sources, he counselled BJP members not to worry about votes when forming ties with members of various social groups, particularly Bohra and Pasmanda Muslims, Sikhs, and Christians.
If the party can win over Muslims and other minorities, they may be able to win an even larger mandate in 2024 than they achieved in 2014.
