First overseas training will be conducted by the IAF’s Rafale in France

Guwahati: The Rafale aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF) would take part in the IAF’s first foreign training exercise, a notification from the Centre on Thursday read.

On Saturday, a group of the Indian Air Force (IAF) will fly to France to take part in Exercise Orion at the Mont-de-Marsan Air Force Base of the French Air and Space Force (FASF).

The IAF Contingent will participate in the exercise with four Rafale, two C-17, two ll-78, and 165 airmen from April 17 to May 5, 2023.

This would be their first overseas training exercise for the Rafale aircraft of the IAF.

This multilateral exercise would also involve the air forces of Germany, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Spain, and the United States of America along with the IAF and the FASF.

Participation in this exercise would further enhance the India Air Force’s employment philosophy by absorbing the finest practises from other Air Forces, the release read.
