SC’s big verdict, says Delhi Govt to control admin services on all aspects

Guwahati: The Supreme Court issued its ruling on the Centre-Delhi government dispute over control of services in the national capital on Thursday, May 11, giving Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party administration in Delhi a significant victory.

The Delhi government is in charge of all parts of administration services, with the exception of land, public order and police, according to the ruling of India’s top court.

The Supreme Court further emphasised in its ruling that the elected branch of the state must hold the true power of governance and that both Delhi and the Centre have authority since the elected government represents the will of the people.

The Delhi Legislature and executive have the authority to make decisions in the absence of a statute by Parliament, added SC.
