West Bengal: 7 people killed in massive blast at a shady fireworks factory

Guwahati: A major explosion on Tuesday at a fireworks factory in West Bengal’s East Midnapore district claimed the lives of at least seven persons, several reports have claimed.

According to reports, the tremendous explosion caused the entire building where the fireworks factory was housed to collapse. Following the explosion, emergency rescue efforts were started.

Police officials predict that after the rescue efforts are completed, more bodies will likely be found. The incident’s victims were taken to a local hospital where they are reportedly in critical condition.

The authorities are investigating the situation and trying to determine what caused the explosion. Officials believe that the plant was used to create crude bombs, some of which may have burst and burned the fireworks. According to officials, it is most likely that the unrefined bombs are to blame for the explosion.

As reported by the locals, it has since been revealed that the fireworks factory was operating unlawfully without the required authorization and oversight from the local authority, including the police.

The authorities, according to the residents, disregarded repeated requests for action against the unlawful factory that has expanded to employ numerous locals.
