Karnataka Police educating public Following abuse of an Assam delivery boy

Guwahati: According to the Karnataka Chief Minister’s Office, which informed the Assam Chief Minister’s Office, Karnataka Police will start sensitization campaigns in Resident Welfare Associations and different neighbourhoods to make sure people are more understanding of Swiggy and Zomato delivery personnel who are from Assam and the Northeast.

This comes after Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, tweeted a media report about an Assam delivery partner who had been tormented and tortured by locals over unfounded accusations. CM Sarma included the Karnataka CMO in his tweet and urged the state government to act.

CM Sarma wrote, “The acute harassment & trauma being faced by a delivery agent from Assam over fake charges, is extremely disturbing. I request the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka to kindly ensure that adequate protection and justice is delivered to the said individual.”

The Bengaluru police commissioner was then contacted by the Karnataka CMO, who requested that they take the necessary steps and report back right away. According to sources cited by ANI, the Bengaluru Police Commissioner reported back to the CMO in less than 12 hours.

Furthermore, the Karnataka CMO informed its Assam equivalent that an investigation has been opened in response to the harassment the Zomato delivery agent has experienced. The authorities are also looking into whether racial prejudices played a role in the event.

It should be noted that the Zomato meal delivery person was allegedly assaulted by the residents of an Electronics City flat for allegedly forcing an eight-year-old girl to walk to the terrace.

However, it was eventually discovered that the girl had made a false statement and that, as seen in the CCTV film, she had gone to the terrace alone and was playing there.
