Kenyan Woman Arrested At Delhi Airport Carrying Cocaine In Liquor Bottles

Guwahati: A 25-year-old Kenyan national was detained on Thursday at the Delhi International Airport for reportedly having cocaine in whisky bottles. According to reports, the woman was carrying drugs with a street value of almost Rs 13 crore.

The woman, according to officials, had arrived on a student visa but was unable to provide an ID from any Indian college or identify any specific institution when questioned.

The woman was detained in accordance with the Narcotics, Drugs, and Psychotropic Substances Act and presented in court. She was then placed in judicial custody for 14 days.

According to the customs officials, the traveller arrived from Nairobi via Addis Abeba on Thursday at 9 am and was intended to stay in West Delhi.

Officials at the airport noticed that the woman was carrying two unsealed bottles of alcohol and that the alcohol appeared to be “thicker than usual” while scanning her suitcase. Officials discovered that the alcohol had an “unusually greenish” tinge after running her bags through the X-ray scanners once more.

The bottles were seized and the liquid inside was tested; the results showed that the liquid had between 22 and 28 percent of cocaine dissolved in it. Following additional testing, it was determined that the bottles likely contained 850 to 900 grammes of cocaine, which, according to officials, is worth close to Rs 13 crores on the illegal market outside.

According to the officials, the woman claimed to have received the bottles at Nairobi’s airport from a stranger who instructed her to deliver them to a person in Delhi.
