President Confers Padma Shri on Chittaranjan Debbarma for Contributions to Spiritualism in Tripura
During a prestigious Civil Investiture Ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, President of India Droupadi Murmu bestowed the Padma Shri award upon Chittaranjan Debbarma in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field of spiritualism.
Born on January 22, 1962, in Barakathal, Sidhai Mohanpur, Tripura, Debbarma’s spiritual journey began at a young age, fueled by a deep devotion to Shiv Parvati and Radha Krishna. After serving as a Panchayat Secretary, he encountered the teachings of Sri Sri Santikali Maharaj, which inspired him to embrace sanyas and dedicate himself to Maa Tripurasundari under his Guru’s guidance.
The tragic passing of his Guru, Sri Sri Santikali Maharaj, at the hands of the NLFT terrorist organization marked a pivotal moment for Debbarma. Entrusted with leading the Sri Sri Santikali Ashram, he expanded its mission to serve the indigenous poor population, despite facing threats.
Debbarma’s efforts extended to establishing hostels in Amarpur, Barakathal, Chachu, Kowaiphang, and Burakha, providing shelter and education to over 700 children from economically disadvantaged families.
Presently serving as the Peethadhish of Shantikali Peeth and Ashram in Gomati district of Tripura, Debbarma has been the recipient of several awards, including the Sant Eshwar Award, Krishna Chandra Gandhi Award, Karmayogi Award, and Maharaja Bir Bikram Manikya Smriti Award.
In 2019, Debbarma founded the Sri Sri Santikali English Medium School, prioritizing holistic and value-based education. With 24 ashrams, an old-age home, and mentorship programs across Tripura, his social impact has grown significantly.
His influence transcends indigenous and non-indigenous communities, fostering a resurgence of followers actively engaged in Dharma Jagaran. Rejecting confinement to a single ashram, he emphasizes the splendor of culture, Sanatan Dharma practices, and the rich history of the region, perpetuating Sanatanatwa among the people.
