Air India Coordinates Evacuation Amid Bangladesh Crisis

Delhi: In light of the escalating unrest in Bangladesh, Air India has successfully evacuated 205 individuals, including six infants, from Dhaka to Delhi on a special charter flight early today. The flight was organized at short notice despite significant infrastructure challenges at Dhaka Airport on the night of August 6.

Additionally, a separate flight repatriated 190 staff members of the Indian High Commission to Delhi, though over 20 personnel remain in Dhaka. The evacuation was critical as Air India, along with IndiGo and Vistara, had suspended regular services to Dhaka due to the violent protests disrupting the region.

The violence in Bangladesh has been severe, with over 20 Awami League leaders and their families reported dead amid widespread attacks and vandalism, particularly in areas like Satkhira, where at least 10 people were killed on August 5.
