Punjab NRIs Demand Enhanced Security After Brazen Amritsar Attack

The recent shooting of NRI Sukhchain Singh in his Amritsar home has sent shockwaves through the Punjabi diaspora, prompting demands for improved security measures. The attack, which left Singh critically injured, has sparked widespread outrage and concern among NRIs who fear for their safety during visits to their homeland.

In response to the incident, the Punjab government has announced plans to establish a dedicated NRI security task force, which will provide personalized protection to overseas visitors. The move aims to reassure NRIs and restore confidence in the state’s law and order situation.

Sukhbir Singh Badal, president of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Badal, has welcomed the initiative but emphasized the need for swift action. “The government must walk the talk and ensure that NRIs feel secure in Punjab. We cannot afford to lose the trust of our global Punjabi community,” Badal stated.

As Sukhchain Singh recovers from his injuries, the incident serves as a wake-up call for the Punjab administration to address the growing concerns of NRIs and residents alike. The state government’s response will be crucial in restoring a sense of safety and security for all.
