46 Detained After Ganesh Idol Procession Erupts into Violence in Nagamangala

Nagamangala, Karnataka: A Ganesh idol procession in Nagamangala turned violent on the night of September 11, resulting in arrests, property damage, and minor injuries. The unrest led to the arrest of 46 individuals.

Mandya Superintendent of Police Mallikarjun Baldandi reported that stone pelting, vandalism, and arson marked the disturbance, which was triggered by a dispute between two groups during the procession. In response, police deployed additional forces and enacted prohibitory orders effective until September 14 to restore calm.

The police have registered a case encompassing charges of unlawful assembly and attempt to murder. While the situation has been brought under control, the incident has heightened concerns regarding public safety and potential communal tensions in the area.
