Priyanka Gandhi to File Nomination for Wayanad Lok Sabha Bye-Elections Amid Intensifying Political Landscape
Priyanka Gandhi, the Congress Party’s General Secretary and United Democratic Front (UDF) candidate, is poised to file her nomination for the Wayanad Lok Sabha bye-elections on October 23. This crucial step follows her strategic meeting with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on October 21, where she sought his guidance and blessings in preparation for the upcoming election campaign.
The nomination process will see Priyanka accompanied by prominent Congress leaders, including Sonia Gandhi, the Chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party, and Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha. The event is scheduled to take place before the Returning Officer in Kalpetta, Wayanad.
On the day of her nomination, Priyanka and Rahul Gandhi will kick off their activities with a roadshow at 11 AM, followed by the official filing of her nomination at noon. The Congress Party had announced Priyanka’s candidacy on October 15, shortly after the Election Commission of India unveiled the schedule for the bye-elections.
In a bid to bolster their campaign, the Congress Party has appointed Saral Patel as the Media Coordinator for Wayanad, effective immediately, according to a release from the All India Congress Committee on October 19.
The political atmosphere is becoming increasingly charged as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for the Wayanad seat, Navya Hariprasad, has recently claimed that Priyanka Gandhi will face “tough competition” in the upcoming bypolls. This statement signals an intensifying electoral contest in the region.
As the election date approaches, both the Congress Party and the BJP are ramping up their efforts to secure voter support in what is shaping up to be a pivotal electoral battle in Wayanad.
