Vayu Veer Vijeta Car Rally Celebrates IAF’s 92nd Anniversary and Kargil Victory

The Vayu Veer Vijeta car rally, commemorating the 92nd anniversary of the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the 25th anniversary of India’s triumph in the 1999 Kargil conflict, arrived at Air Force Station Tezpur on October 25.

Organized by the IAF in partnership with United World Motors (UWM), this remarkable rally spans 7,000 kilometers, starting from Thoise in Ladakh and culminating in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh.

Upon arrival in Tezpur, the rally team was warmly welcomed by Group Captain VK Gupta, the Station Commander of Air Force Station Tezpur, along with other personnel from the station. Before reaching Tezpur, the rally team made a stop in Guwahati on October 23, where they engaged with students at Gauhati University on October 24, fostering discussions about careers in the armed forces.

The primary objective of the rally is to motivate Indian youth to explore career opportunities within the military. At both educational institutions, participants were honored and celebrated by faculty and students, who appreciated the enriching interactions with the rally team.

The rally features a distinguished lineup of participants, including Air Warriors, Army Officers, and esteemed Air Veterans. Notable among them is Retired Group Captain RC Tripathi VM, an ex-Para Jump Instructor celebrated for his remarkable ascent of Mount Everest and his skydive near the Everest base camp in Gorakshep, Nepal. He is also recognized as the first IAF personnel to conquer the Seven Summits, which are the highest peaks on each continent.

Another key figure in the rally is Retired Group Captain MK Sharma, an avid adventurist known for his participation in various car and bike rallies during his service.

The rally was officially flagged off earlier that morning from Air Force Station Borjhar by Air Commodore SS Prabhune, Air Officer Commanding. Following their Tezpur stop, the team is scheduled to depart for Dirang, Arunachal Pradesh, on October 26, before concluding their extraordinary journey in Tawang.

This rally not only honors the rich history of the IAF but also serves as a platform to inspire the next generation to serve their nation through military service.
