Tragic Collision Between Cargo Truck and Passenger Bus in Mexico Leaves 24 Dead
Zacatecas, Mexico: A devastating accident occurred in Mexico’s central state of Zacatecas on Saturday, resulting in the deaths of at least 24 individuals and injuring several others. The collision happened on a highway connecting Zacatecas with Aguascalientes when a cargo truck’s container, loaded with corn, detached and struck a passenger bus.
A senior official from Zacatecas confirmed the fatalities in a video shared on social media, stating, “Preliminary reports indicate 24 passengers have died, and five others are injured and receiving medical attention.”
The passenger bus was traveling from Tepic in Nayarit state to Ciudad Juarez, located near the U.S. border. In response to the accident, authorities have temporarily closed the highway and deployed army personnel, National Guard units, and civil protection forces to assist in the emergency response and ongoing investigation.
Local authorities are currently examining the circumstances surrounding the collision to determine the factors that led to this tragic incident.
