DoPPW Launches Nationwide Digital Life Certificate Campaign, Draws Over 1.8 Lakh Pensioners on First Day
New Delhi – November 2, 2024
The Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) has launched its largest-ever Digital Life Certificate (DLC) campaign across India, aimed at simplifying the life certification process for pensioners using digital technology. Kicking off on November 1, the month-long initiative saw a strong initial response, with over 1.8 lakh pensioners generating their certificates on the first day alone.
Running until November 30, the campaign is being conducted in over 800 cities and districts nationwide. This year’s drive is centered on promoting face-authentication technology, which allows pensioners to complete the certification process on their smartphones via Android and iOS apps. This advancement is particularly beneficial for elderly pensioners, as it enables remote, hassle-free access to life certification.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, along with the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), is providing essential technical support for the initiative. DoPPW has collaborated with numerous partners, including pension-disbursing banks, India Post Payments Bank, pensioners’ associations, the Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA), Department of Telecommunications (DoT), and Indian Railways.
The campaign underscores the government’s commitment to making pension verification accessible to even the most remote regions, ensuring that thousands of pensioners across the country can benefit from seamless and reliable digital certification.
