Landslide Engulfs Tamil Nadu Village, Seven Missing

Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu: A devastating landslide struck VOC Nagar, a village nestled at the foot of Annamalaiyar Hills in Tiruvannamalai district, late Sunday night. The incident, triggered by heavy rainfall from the remnants of Cyclone Fengal, has left seven people, including five children, missing and feared trapped under the debris.

Rescue operations were initiated promptly, but initial efforts were hampered by a large rock obstructing access to the buried houses. Teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and local police have since joined forces to expedite the search and rescue mission.

District Collector D. Bhaskar Pandian confirmed that the missing individuals are likely buried under the landslide debris. As the region continues to grapple with the aftermath of Cyclone Fengal, authorities remain vigilant and are working tirelessly to provide relief and assistance to the affected population.
