Actor Allu Arjun Released on Bail Following Arrest Over Stampede Incident at Pushpa 2 Premiere

Actor Allu Arjun walked out of Chanchalguda Central Jail on Saturday morning after securing interim bail from the Telangana High Court. His arrest followed a tragic stampede during the premiere of his latest film, Pushpa 2: The Rule, which resulted in the death of a 35-year-old woman and injuries to her eight-year-old son.

The incident occurred on December 4 at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad, where thousands of fans had gathered to catch a glimpse of the actor. The massive crowd led to chaos, culminating in the fatal stampede. The Hyderabad police registered a case against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Chikkadpally police station.

In a dramatic turn of events, Arjun was arrested from his residence on Friday morning and remanded to 14 days’ judicial custody by a local court. Although the High Court granted him interim bail on Friday, procedural delays kept him in custody overnight.

Speaking outside the jail, Arjun’s lawyer, Ashok Reddy, criticized the delay in his release. “The High Court order was clear. Detaining him overnight despite the order amounts to illegal detention. We will take legal action,” Reddy stated. He also revealed that Arjun was treated as a “special category prisoner” during his brief incarceration.

Upon his release, Allu Arjun addressed the media, expressing both gratitude and regret. “I thank everyone for their love and support. I want to thank all my fans. There is nothing to worry about; I am fine. I am a law-abiding citizen and will cooperate fully. I express my heartfelt condolences to the family of the victim. It was an unfortunate incident, and we are deeply sorry for what happened.”

The actor’s arrest and subsequent release have reignited discussions about crowd management at events involving high-profile celebrities. Authorities have increased security outside Arjun’s residence, anticipating large gatherings of fans eager to show their support.

The incident has cast a shadow over the much-anticipated release of Pushpa 2, raising questions about safety measures and accountability during public events.
