Railway Stations Transform into Vibrant Marketplaces: OSOP Initiative Empowers Local Artisans

The One Station One Product (OSOP) initiative has taken a significant leap forward, revolutionizing the role of railway stations across India. With a remarkable 1,854 operational outlets, these stations have transformed into vibrant marketplaces showcasing the country’s diverse local products.

Central Railway has emerged as a key player in this initiative, boasting 157 OSOP outlets. The Bhusaval Division, in particular, leads the way with 25 operational outlets, all managed by women entrepreneurs. This initiative not only contributes to the local economy but also empowers women, providing them with sustainable income opportunities.

Ity Pandey, Bhusaval Divisional Railway Manager, emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting local artisans and turning railway stations into hubs for indigenous products. By offering extended stall periods and minimal registration fees, the OSOP initiative aims to provide stability and growth opportunities for local entrepreneurs, especially women.

The women-led businesses in the Bhusaval Division are flourishing, offering a wide range of products, from exquisite Paithani sarees and stylish purses to eco-friendly bamboo crafts. These outlets serve as platforms for both economic empowerment and skill development, fostering a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem.
