Actor Saif Ali Khan, accompanied by wife Kareena Kapoor and their family, recently met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. The visit was part of an effort to personally invite the Prime Minister to the Raj Kapoor Film Festival, which commenced on December 13, celebrating the centenary of the legendary actor-filmmaker Raj Kapoor’s birth.
Describing the meeting as “special,” Saif Ali Khan praised the Prime Minister’s warmth and attentiveness despite his demanding schedule. “He had just come from a long day in Parliament, yet he greeted us with a warm smile and was incredibly charming,” Saif shared in an interview with HT City.
During the conversation, PM Modi inquired about Saif’s parents and expressed a desire to meet the couple’s children, Taimur and Jehangir. At Kareena’s request, the Prime Minister signed a note for the boys, which the family described as a cherished gesture. Saif remarked on Modi’s relentless work ethic, sharing, “He mentioned he only gets about three hours of sleep a night, yet he seemed fully engaged and connected with us.”
A video of the interaction, which has since garnered significant attention on social media, shows the PM recalling his meeting with Saif’s father, the late Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi. Modi expressed his hopes of meeting three generations of the Pataudi family, adding a personal touch to the interaction. Kareena revealed that their sons were excited about the idea of visiting the Prime Minister in the future.
The Kapoor family’s visit to the Prime Minister underscores the importance of the Raj Kapoor Film Festival, a celebration of Indian cinema and its enduring legacy.
