Today is Children’s Day. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s birthday is being celebrated as Children’s Day across the country. Various children’s day programmes are being held among children in Guwahati as well as in different parts of the state on the occasion. India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru was born on November 14, 1889.
Nehru loved the children very much. So his birthday is celebrated as Children’s Day. Congress leader Sonia Gandhi also paid homage to Nehru at his cemetery in Shantiban in Delhi in the morning.
