ONGC oil field accident: Chief engineer dies after falling from rig
The oil and natural gas corporation briefly fell from a rig at ONGC’s Assam Resources Gallery oil field on Monday and killed a senior oil company official has created a severe stir inside the company except the company. The company confirmed that the officer who died after falling off the 50 feet high delhi board of the rig due to a mechanical glitch at 14000-XIII mining rig at Kolgaon under ONGC’s Galaxy oil field was confirmed by the institute’s engineer and rig in-charge Dineshon Konwar (57).
The officer was seriously injured and injured and rushed to ONGC hospital in Sivasagar after the tragic accident that took place in Rig around 1.30am on Monday but doctors declared him already dead. In-charge Dinan Konwar was reportedly performing his duty by reaching the manufacturing rig on Monday morning. Usually the chief engineer and in-charge does not go to this daily board above the rig but he climbs up the rig to monitor the BP Test in need of duty.
But unfortunately the mechanical glitch fell down the rig. In such a sudden incident all the officers of the rig should be among the staff and immediately admitted to ONGC hospital in Sivasagar but he has already died. It may be recalled that in the past several officers have died while performing duty in ongc’s galaxy oil field as well as other oil fields though the authorities of the institute have been accused of not paying much attention to the safety aspect.
There have been allegations that ONGC authorities and senior external state officials working in Assam have been taking a stand in this direction in particular. Meanwhile the local police and ONGC security department teams reached the spot and inspected and continued their own investigation on behalf of the institute. Meanwhile, news of the tragic death of the woman at her workplace has left the ONGC officials and staff in mourning. Crying roll now at Shimluguri Ramugaon residence. The family and neighbours have not been able to easily take such a sudden death of the officer who left his son at a educational institution in Jorhat on Sunday evening and joined his workplace on Monday.
