In Meghalaya, residents of Assam villages are threatened with house-door burning if they do not have a match…
Bokot has taken a complicated turn over the border dispute in the state of Assam-Meghalaya. The incident has created quite a stir when residents of Assam village bordering Meghalaya state under Boko police station in Kamrup district threatened to burn up to door if they did not match the geographical boundaries of Meghalaya state. State chief minister Himanta Biswa Sharma was informed by some villagers on the border of Meghalaya state of Boko on Thursday through the office of the Boco Revenue Circle officer that they were being threatened by anti-Assam people. They also made it clear that those residents do not match the geographical boundaries of meghalaya state for any reason.
On Thursday, some men and women from the bordervillages of Assam presented a memorandum to the Chief Minister in front of the office of the Boco Revenue Circle Officer with slogans like ‘We will live in Assam, suppress assam ese’, ‘Save assam’s territory’. Residents of various villages including Huapara, Shalbari, Gosanimara and Shildubi on the border give a frightening explanation of how assam ese hate has been harassing them for not wanting to join the geographical boundaries of Meghalaya. Vivari even said before the revenue circle officer that the terror was being carried out recently by threatening to burn the houses and doors of the residents of assam villages as they did not want to be matched within the geographical boundaries of meghalaya state.
They requested the administration officer to protect him from the harassment of assam haters. More and more people in the villages along the border want to be within the geographical boundaries of Assam and for some reason meghalaya does not want to be merged with the geographical boundaries of the state but residents of Assam do not want to open their mouths due to fear of anti-Assam people. They said many people are yet to come out to give memorandums due to insecurity. Today’s protest has made it clear that the villages of Assam on the border for so long want to be connected in Meghalaya.
