Eviction drive in North Lakhimpur

Lakhimpur district administration launched an eviction drive at North Lakhimpur College (Autonomous) Chariali in North Lakhimpur town on Friday. During the drive, administration pulled down the boundary walls of North Lakhimpur High School, Khelmati Club, Khelmati namghar, a number of shops and commercial shops in order to free government land from encroachment. On the other hand, the evicted people alleged that the administration had launched the drive without issuing any prior notice. The eviction drive was conducted under the aegis of North Lakhimpur Municipal Board.
