In a press conference held at Bodofa House here, the education secretary of the ABSU, Swmaosar Basumatary said most of the students of TDC 1st semester under BU got their results withheld with 00 marks in their subjects in the marksheet given on March 26. He said the BU alleged that the respective colleges under BU did not send the internal assessment marks to them for which the results were withheld. He, however, made it clear that the claim made by the university authority was not true and they had collected information about internal assessment marks being sent by the respective colleges on time. He wondered how students got 00 marks even though they sat for online examination from home. He suspected that there could have been many lapses in the university administration.(TNL)

Basumatary alleged that the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of BU, Prof. Laishram Ladu Singh and Controller of Examination, Dr. Amitabh Baruah had been neglecting the growth and development of the university for which repeated mistakes were taking place. Earlier, the BU authority failed to issue grade sheets to students. He said the ABSU, which has been working for quality education, has already taken up some agitation programmes demanding the removal of the present VC and replacing him with a good VC. He also urged Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to intervene in the matter and replace both the VC and Controller of examination of BU as early as possible.(TNL)

The education secretary of ABSU said the BU had issued notice asking the students to pay Rs. 200 per paper to seek re-checking of answer sheets but the union said the amount was not affordable for economically-poor students for which the BU authority should ensure error-free results. The union questioned how it would be possible for re-verification of answer sheets within a week as the students must attend the back examination scheduled to be held from April 9. The ABSU cautioned the university authority to be sincere.
