Assamese women allegedly assaulted in Arunachal Pradesh

Guwahati: On thursday evening over a dispute between a group of Assamese women and locals of Arunachal at Sili Asomiya village near Silapathar hundreds of women thronged the Silapathar police station premises.

According to reports, on Wednesday, a group of women from Sili Asomiya gaon (village) headed towards a hill in Arunachal Pradesh to collect firewood when locals at Ape Lise village allegedly assaulted them and forced them to kneel down.

The victims seeking justice had informed the matter to the village headman of the Ape Lise village; however, the village headman without verifying the facts lodged a case against the women at Arunachal’s Likabali police station.

Following this, the people of Sili Asomiya gaon got agitated and gathered at the Silapathar police station to lodge a counter case against the people at Ape Lise village seeking justice, but an officer of Silapathar police reportedly sent the case back without registering the case.

Therefore, on Thursday evening hundreds of men and women from Sili Axomiya village surrounded the Silapathar police station and force the police officials to lodge an FIR.
