SEBA Exam Controller: HSLC Results Will Be Declared In May Itself
Guwahati: The Controller of Examinations of the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA), Nayan Jyoti Sarma gave the assurance that the results for the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examinations would be released in May alone despite a significant controversy over paper leak on Friday.
Speaking to reporters, Sarma said, “The HSLC results will be declared in May itself, however, there might be an inevitable delay of 8-10 days.”
He continued by calling the paper leak situation nothing less than regrettable.
“The paper leak incident is very unfortunate to have taken place. As of now, no official of SEBA have been arrested in connection to case. We are committed to working day and night for the students who are suffering due to the unfortunate incident,” he said.
The examination for all MIL/English (IL) courses of the present High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Class 10 examinations will take place on April 1, 2023, according to a statement made earlier today by SEBA.
In light of rumours of a potential question paper leak, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma ordered the exams to be rescheduled last night.
The tests were initially slated to take place on March 18. However, one of the suspects who had previously been arrested for his involvement in the leak of the General Science exam admitted to the authorities that he had also leaked the Assamese language exam during questioning.
Assam CM Sarma responded by ordering SEBA to reschedule the exams. SEBA has since announced a new date for all MIL/English (IL) subjects, which will now take place on April 1.
The purported mastermind of the HSLC paper leak was reportedly apprehended in the Lakhimpur district last night.
Pranab Dutta, the principal of Luit Kaboli High School in Lakhimpur and the supervisor of the testing facility, has been named as the alleged mastermind.
In connection with the incident, Kumud Rajkhowa, another instructor, was also detained.
Two more people from Gogamukh were also taken into custody and questioned.
Police reported that a total of 31 people have been detained so far in connection with the case, of whom 27 have been arrested.
Twelve juveniles are also among those detained.
Assam Director General of Police (DGP) Gyanendra Pratap Singh stated that the investigation into the HSLC question paper leak event is progressing quickly.
“The CID is actively pursuing all leads in the HSLC paper leak case. Our investigation is progressing rapidly. We are all working together as a team to find out the people behind it,” he said.
