Assam: Another Aide of Amritpal Singh Brought to Dibrugarh

Guwahati: Another pro-Khalistani commander has been brought to Assam from Punjab.

The prisoner was brought from Punjab to LGBI Airport of Guwahati on Monday night. He was then shifted to Dibrugarh under heavy security on Tuesday morning.

Though the police have not disclosed the identity of the prisoner, he is suspected to be the pro-khalistani leader and ‘Waris De Punjab’ chief Amritpal Singh’s uncle Harjit Singh.

The relative of Amritpal, Harjit Singh, and the driver, Harpreet Singh, surrendered late on Sunday night in Jalandhar, according to the Punjab Police.

As per reports, two more pro-Khalistani activists will reportedly be transported to Dibrugarh today. However, the identity of the persons has not been ascertained as of now.

Four of the extreme Sikh preacher Amritpal Singh’s assistants were brought to Dibrugarh on Sunday. They are Daljeet Singh Kalsi, Bhagwant Singh, Gurmeet Singh and Pradhanmantri Bajeka are currently lodged at the Dibrugarh Central Jail.

On Monday, the state police intensified the security to catch the radical preacher as soon as possible as the search entered its third day. A month ago, Amritpal Singh, the leader of “Waris De Punjab,” and his supporters burst into a police station brandishing weapons in order to demand the release of one of his aides. In the altercation, six police officers suffered injuries. The Punjab administration received a lot of criticism for the state’s law and order condition after the incident.

The suspension of mobile internet and SMS services has been extended by the Punjab government till Tuesday noon. According to the order made by the additional chief secretary, the broadband services are not being terminated to prevent disruptions to banking operations, medical services, and other crucial services.

112 Amritpal followers have been arrested thus far. The police launched flag marches and conducted searches all over the state in their quest for Amritpal.
