Woman from Patiala Arrested by Punjab Police for sheltering Amritpal Singh
Guwahati: Punjab Police on March 26 arrested a woman for reportedly housing wanted Waris Punjab De head Amritpal Singh and his associates.
This was informed by officials.
The pro-Khalsitani official sought refuge in Balbir Kaur’s residence in Hargobind Nagar of Patiala on March 19.
Kaur is said to have protected Amritpal and his assistant Papalpreet Singh for close to five or six hours before they travelled to Shahabad in the Kurukshetra area of Haryana, according to officials.
An alert has been issued in the Uttarakhand districts of Dehradun, Haridwar and Udhamsingh Nagar as a precaution due to the potential entry of pro Khalistan Amritpal Singh.
The Director General of Police (DGP) Ashok Kumar stated that there has been extensive checking at the borders of all three districts as well as the surrounding regions.
The DGP added that terrorism had an impact on these three districts in the 1990s.
The police had previously detained Tejinder Singh Gill, charged him with violating section 212 of the IPC, and seized a phone, a flag, an emblem, and Khalistan currency.
