Arrested GMC Chief Engineer Sentenced to Judicial Custody in Guwahati
Guwahati: Indrajit Bora, the chief engineer of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC), was released from police custody on Monday.
Indrajit Bora has now been placed in the custody of the courts.
Indrajit Bora had previously appeared before the Special Court on March 23 and had his case continued for four days in legal detention.
It should be noted that on March 22, a team of agents from the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption unit caught the chief engineer in the act of asking and taking bribes and detained him.
Reports say that Bora was arrested while taking the complainant’s Rs 4,000 payment to release his security deposit. A contractor has been identified as the complainant.
During a search operation at Bora’s home in Guwahati’s Games Village, anti-corruption cell officials seized a huge sum of cash, a pistol, an air rifle, and 10 rounds of.22 ammunition.
