Two held for illegally transporting cattle in Guwahati

Guwahati: In a continuous drive against cattle smugglers, Assam Police once again seized 44 cattle heads from two trucks in Jorabat during the early hours of Tuesday.

Acting on specific inputs of a possible smuggling bid going down, a checking was set-up by the police officials at NH-37 in which they intercepted two trucks loaded with cattle.

Apart from the cattle, police arrested two smugglers in connection.

The arrestees identified as Abul Kalam and Abdul Hamid.

Reports revealed that the cattle were smuggled from Mangaldai and Baihata in Assam.

However, the vehicle and the animals have been recovered by the legal authorities.
