Assam: Prez Murmu takes sortie in Sukhoi-30 MKI fighter jet

Guwahati: President Droupadi Murmu took a sortie in a Sukhoi 30 MKI fighter aircraft from Tezpur Air Force Station on April 8 as part of her ongoing tour to Assam.

She became the second female head of state to do so with this after former President Pratibha Patil, who took off from the Pune air force base in a front-line Sukhoi-30 MKI fighter jet in 2009.

President Murmu inaugurates the Gaj Utsav 2023 on April 7 at Assam’s Kaziranga National Park.

”There is a sacred relationship between nature and humanity,” the President said while speaking on the occasion.

She further said that the culture of respecting nature has been the identity of our country, adding, ”In India, nature and culture have been linked to each other and have been receiving nourishment from each other”.

Besides this, Murmu experienced an incredible jeep safari into the heart of Kaziranga National Park. She entered the park from Mihimukh Point and had an exhilarating experience witnessing the wildlife, which included a rare one-horned rhinoceros, wild buffalo, deer, and birds.

In the park, Murmu even fed the elephants, making the experience genuinely unique.
