Flutist Dipak Sarma Admitted to Hospital in Delhi, to undergo liver transplant
Guwahati: Dipak Sarma, a well-known flutist of Assam has reportedly been hospitalised to the Max Hospital in New Delhi for a liver resection.
According to reports, the flautist was admitted to the hospital on Saturday After completing all of his tests.
Reportedly, Dipak Sarma’s wife would donate her organs to give the flautist a second chance at life.
Sarma expressed his regret at being unable to perform for the people of Assam during this Bihu season. But he assured everyone that he would recover soon and see them on the following Bihu.
It should be noted that the renowned flute player felt critically unwell in January of this year and was admitted to the Dispur Hospital in Guwahati.
According to the hospital’s medical staff, Sarma was receiving treatment for multi-organ failure.
Sarma had requested financial assistance from the state’s chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for his medical care.
Speaking about his illness, Sarma said, “I had tested positive for Covid-19 earlier. I also suffered from dengue and while I was undergoing treatment for it, the doctors said I was suffering from many internal problems. The doctors have also found a spot on my liver.”
Assam minister Pijush Hazarika visited to the Dispur Hospital to assess Dipak Sarma’s health.
Furthermore, the minister provided Sarma a cheque for Rs. 1 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
