Guwahati: The government will take initiatives to celebrate Saat Bihu from 2024 in Assam.
This was stated by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday.
At Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati, CM Sarma gave one-time-assistance to 10-year-old Rongali Bihu Celebration Committees of Assam.
A grant of Rs. 1.5 lakhs was given to 2114 bihu committees, 120 of which were from Kamrup (Metropolitan).
According to CM Sarma stated during his speech that no one is permitted to celebrate Bihu from May 16.
Also he said, “From May 16, Bihu will not be celebrated in the state, however, other cultural programmes could be held. Bihu committees should take action in this regard.”
CM Sarma asked Bihu committee to take part in traditional Husori instead of collecting Chanda (Donation).
The Chief Minister made further mention the problem of alcohol use on stage once more and urged the Bihu committee to give great Attention to it.
CM Sarma declared that from next year will take an initiative to celebrate Saat Bihu.
It mention that Rongali Bihu is also known as Saat Bihu celebrated for seven days.

- Goru Bihu
- Manuh Bihu
- Gosain Bihu
- Tator Bihu
- Nangolor Bihu
- Jiyori or Senehi Bihu
- Sera Bihu
