Assam: Chaos & Accident In Morigaon Amid Bihu Celebrations
Guwahati: Amid Bihu celebrations across the state, six women including two minors sustained severe injuries in a fatal road mishap at Morigaon district of Assam on Saturday night.
The incident took place at Forest Gate of the district.
As per reports, the women were en route to perform Husori which is performed in the courtyards of the villagers during Bohag Bihu.
Reports claim that a drunken biker identified as Bikash Patru was responsible for the mishap.
Patru was riding his bike while intoxicated, which caused him to lose control of it and hitting the group of women. He has been admitted to the hospital after suffering serious injuries in the collision.
The injured women were shifted to the nearby Morigaon Civil Hospital for medical attention.
The hospital professionals attented to the women immediately and gave them the appropriate medical aid.
The injured women are now receiving treatment and are stated to be in a severe condition.
The incident has once again highlighted the risks associated with driving while intoxicated and the requirement for tougher laws and regulations to prevent similar accidents from happening in the future.
An investigation into the accident has been launched by the local authorities.
