COVID: Guwahati police Commissioner tests positive

Guwahati: Guwahati Police Commissioner Diganta Borah has tested positive for Covid-19 on April 16.

IPS Harmeet Singh was replaced as the Guwahati Police Commissioner by an Assam government IPS officer on December 13, 2022.

This news emerged just a few days after it was announced that a teenager tested positive in Demow of Assam. Traces of the Covid-19 virus were found during a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) conducted on the girl, who is a resident of Demow in the Sivasagar district of Assam. The family decided to get a Covid-19 test after learning that the girl had a high fever for a few days.

The situation is equally alarming in Delhi, where on April 15 the city witnessed highest daily tally of Covid-19 cases in more than seven months. Delhi increased its Covid cases by 1,149 with a positive rate of 23.8%. One fatality was recorded, but the health department said coronavirus was not the primary cause of death. With adding 1,396 additional cases on April 16, the city’s positive rate increased to 31.9%.
