Following Bihu, 20,000 performers to perform Bagarumba dance in effort to break Guinness World Record, says ABSU advisor
Guwahati: Assam is currently implementing altogether for yet another Guinness World Record after entering its name for the largest Bihu dance performance with more than 11,000 artists.
The Bodo community of Assam wants to promote their traditional dance, the Bagarumba dance, on the global stage.
Following Bihu’s thunderous debut into the Guinness Book of World Records, the Bagarumba Dance of the Bodo community will now aim to break the record with more than 20,000 performers.
Speaking to reporters, All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) advisor Kusum Swargiary said, “You all know that after the successful biggest Bihu dance performance at a single venue in Guwahati on April 14, etching its name on a global stage, the government is now mulling to bring forth Bodo community’s folk dance Bagarumba dance on the global platform aiming for a Guinness World Record”.
Several Bodo organisations, including the Bodo Sahitya Sabha, are reportedly moving forward with the planning for the massive dance event that is anticipated to take place the next year.
The development occurred after Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed the government’s plan to promote the Bodo community’s traditional dance on the global stage.
