Assam: Most Wanted Drug Peddler Shot & Injured in Police Encounter in Nagaon
Guwahati: In a major gun battle, the Assam Police opened fire at most-wanted drug dealer in Nagaon on Sunday night.
The incident occurred at Bortal locality in Rupohihat of the district.
The drug dealer has been identified as Ramizul Islam.
Following the firing incident, Ramizul Islam received bullet injuries on his leg and was shifted to Nagaon civil hospital.
According to reports, the most wanted criminal Ramizul has been detained twice previously and has been active in drug trafficking in the district for a long time. He eventually got out on bond and allegedly started selling drugs in the area.
Reportedly, the drug dealer was shot at while attempting to flee from the police last night.
Acting on a tip off, Nagaon police also recovered as many as 75 drug-filled containers from his possession.
Bullet-ridden drugs mafia Ramizul Islam is a resident of Nangaldhua in Nagaon district.
It is to be noted that heeding the clarion call of Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam police are leaving no stone unturned to dismantle the illegal drug trade in the state.
Meanwhile, the state police department has busted multiple drug rackets across the state in the last couple of weeks.
