Dacoit Injured in Police Firing in Assam’s Silapathar
Guwahati: Three people including one dacoit was injured by gunfire from the police on Thursday morning in Dhemaji district of Assam.
The incident occurred at Silapathar of the district.
According to reports, the Dhemaji district has become a hotspot for theft over the past few days.
An operation to apprehend the dacoits who were travelling to the Milanpur area was led by a team under the direction of the officer-in-charge of Silapathar police Station as a result of a tip, reports added.
The dacoits started shooting at the police after learning they were being followed, and the police eventually had to shoot at them in self-defense, injuring one of the dacoits.
The two other dacoits took advantage of the darkness to flee the area and avoid capture by the police, while the injured was referred to Dibrugarh for advanced medical treatment.
Meanwhile, the police have seized a white Alto car, six track pants, 15 pairs of jeans, two machetes, and Rs. 13,000 in cash.
