Sewali Devi Sharma’s residence raided by CM Vigilance Team in Assam
Guwahati: CM Vigilance Team Raids Suspended IAS Officer Sewali Devi Sharma’s Residence in Connection with SCERT Scam.
A vigilance team from the Assam Chief Minister’s office conducted a raid at the home of Sewali Devi Sharma, a suspended IAS officer on May 11. In Rajasthan, where she was supposedly hiding out with her son-in-law Ajit Pal Singh, she was apprehended on May 8 by the CM’s vigilance squad.
The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) in Assam, where Sharma served as executive chairman and director from 2017 to 2020, is the subject of the alleged scam that led to the arrest. The purported scam entails the theft of Rs 105 crore without providing any proof of work orders.
Sharma had five bank accounts that were opened without the Assam government’s permission, it was discovered during the examination. She is charged with abusing her position of authority to assist in money theft.
Prior to her arrest, Sharma had already been questioned by the CM’s vigilance team investigating the scandal. The raid on her home was done as a part of the case’s ongoing investigations.
