Assam Rifles Jawan Injured in Manipur While Disposing IED

Guwahati: One Assam Rifles jawan suffered a minor injury while neutralising an IED that was made on the spot in Saitan village in Bishnupur district of Manipur.

The incident was reported at approximately 4.15 am on Friday.

The wounded soldier was transported in safety to the military hospital.

Notably, on May 10, a tense calm developed when an unknown group of armed individuals opened fire on the Assam Rifles Column in the region. According to reports, the incident was made public when Manipur, a state wracked by conflict, reduced its curfew.

Initial reports state that the shooting incident occurred at Dolaithabi, which is a village in Manipur’s Imphal East District.

According to a security force source, a member of the Assam Rifles was shot, however he was safely transported in a helicopter to a military hospital.

The injured soldier is receiving treatment at the aforementioned military facility.
