Assam’s MLA Sherman Ali abuses security guards and tells one of them to shoot the mandal president; video goes viral

Guwahati: A video showing MLA Sherman Ali abusing and using profane language towards security personnel went viral on May 17 escalating the tense situation in Baghbor of Assam.

Security staff allegedly received verbal abuse from MLA Sherman Ali for allegedly failing to carry out their jobs correctly and failing to obey his instructions.

According to reports, Sherman Ali lost his composure after the Mandal Congress president of Baghmara in the Barpeta district requested payment from Congress employees for the work they had done during the last assembly. 

It has been reported that during the last assembly elections, Jinnah Rezzakul Alam, president of the Mandal Congress of Baghmaras in the Barpeta district, claimed to have spent Rs 2 lakh on the election.

A tense atmosphere prevailed after MLA Sherman Ali Ahmed opened the panchayat hall at Baghmara Char on the southern bank of the Barpeta district on May 17.

The president of the Mandal Congress today asked the money he was supposed to receive from the MLA following the passing of the previous two years and instructed his security team to take a photograph of the leader.

The MLA lost his composure even more when the bodyguard disobeyed him and had to endure a barrage of abuse.

A section of the local population was upset with the MLA for using such offensive language and acting rudely in a public setting.
