Assam: Anand Mishra Appointed as new SP of North Lakhimpur
Guwahati: The Assam government has appointed IPS officer Anand Mishra as the new SP of North Lakhimpur in the most recent development, which comes hours after it was revealed that the Superintendent of Police (SP) of North Lakhimpur and Nagaon had been transferred.
Meanwhile, Nagaon’s new SP is Navneet Mahanta. On the other hand, Leena Doley has been appointed as the SP of Hailakandi.
The police shuffle comes days after the mysterious death of Nagoan SI Junmoni Rabha.
In the most recent development, Assam Police has also summoned Lakhimpur Additional Superintendent of Police Runa Neog and directed her to appear before the investigative team at the police headquarters.
According to reports, an alleged informant of the deceased SI Junmoni Rabha said that SP Runa Neog had threatened Hasina Begum over the phone for her work in exposing the fake gold traders of Bangalmora.
Leena Doley and Bedanta Madhab Rajkhowa, the SPs for Nagaon and Lakhimpur, have been transferred in the midst of the continuing investigation into the death of Junmoni Rabha.
Assam Director General of Police GP Singh on May 20 announced at a press conference that the Central Bureau of Investigation had been assigned to investigate the death of Junmoni Rabha.
