Forced to Work As House Help in Delhi, Assam Woman Rescued

Guwahati: A young woman from Baghjan in Assam’s Tinsukia district was rescued by the Delhi Police’s North-East Cell from a family who had compelled her to work as a housekeeper.

Initial reports state that the 21-year-old woman, who had been employed by a family in Delhi for the previous two months, was abducted as a house assistant against her will.

Sumit and Aanchal Chabra, who both hail from Bihar, were identified as the husband and wife accused of the incident, per the information collected.

The victim was forcedly taken in by the accused family, according to the Delhi Police’s investigation, which revealed that an agent by the name of Anisha Bawra had made the arrangements. Anisha Bawra is a citizen of Assam who has a case filed against her at the Baghjan Police Station in Tinsukia.

With the promise of a well-paying job, the victim had been seduced into falling for the trap. The North-East Cell of the Delhi Police was approached by the Baghjan Police after receiving a report about the situation.

Processing the case for inquiry involved Ghritashree Bhuyan Nurlak, the coordinator of the North-East Cell. The victim was saved last night following an operation by the authorities, and she was then transferred to a shelter home where she is presently being held.
