Ex Delhi Minister Satyendar Jain Granted Interim Bail For 6 Weeks
Guwahati: The Supreme Court (SC) granted interim bail to former Delhi minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Satyendar Jain in connection with a money laundering case that the Enforcement Directorate is now looking into on Friday.
A bench of Justices J.K. Maheswari and P.S. Narasimha let the former minister to have treatment in the hospital of his choice.
The former minister has been requested to provide the medical documents by July 10 by the justices’ bench.
Jain was also told not to speak to the media while on temporary bail.
The senior attorney for the former minister, Abhishek Singhvi, reportedly stated that Jain has shed 35 kg and is experiencing back pain.
A panel of doctors from the AIIMS or Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Delhi were invited to examine Jain, according to Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, who was representing the ED. He added that the investigation agency won’t object to treatment if the medical reports recommend it.
The bench stated that it would consider having doctors from AIIMS or RML hospital examine Jain on the following hearing day.
The former minister fell in the jail’s bathroom on Thursday morning and was taken to the intensive care unit (ICU) at Lok Nayak Hospital in Delhi.
It should be noted that Jain was detained by the court after being arrested in May 2022 by the Enforcement Directorate for violating the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
Jain is accused of acquiring movable property between February 14, 2015, and May 31, 2017, however he was unable to provide a satisfactory justification for them.
